Benilde is part of the Lasallian network of educational institutions composed of 65 universities and colleges, and 92 schools in more than 80 countries worldwide.

Blazing Trails Since 1988

From its humble beginnings as a night school for working students, the College continues to blaze trails for innovative educational programs with a thrust on learner-centered educational philosophy.

Benilde is known for pioneering degree programs that were not considered career-viable decades ago and hence, were not offered in other colleges and universities. Today, we are recognized for our innovation and we continue to offer non-traditional programs that are responsive to established industries and emerging fields of specializations in Deaf applied studies, design and arts, hotel and tourism, business, and diplomatic affairs.

Since 2016, Benilde’s School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management is the only hotel school in the country to hold a Level IV status, the highest recognition given by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU), and to be recognized as a Center of Excellence by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) at the same time. Benilde’s School of Management and Information Technology has been conferred as a CHED Center of Excellence for its Business Administration programs as well, and has achieved PAASCU Level 4 status in Human Resource Management and Export Management. With the recent accreditation activities, the College now has 13 degree programs accredited under PAASCU, highlighting the College’s drive to ensure that industry-grade quality education is offered to our students.

In 2024, Benilde’s autonomous status has been renewed by CHED through the issuance of Memorandum Order No. 7, Series of 2024, extending this recognition until 2027. This continuation builds on the College’s initial grant of autonomous status in 2019 under CMO No. 12, Series of 2019. Additionally, Benilde has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for the third time, covering the Academic Years 2022 to 2025, following its previous recognitions from 2019 to 2021.

Our Founder

In his time, St. John Baptist de La Salle created a community of Christian schools throughout France. But what he’s actually done is transform the structure and system of education across four centuries all over the world, a legacy for which he was proclaimed Patron Saint of Teachers.

St. La Salle established free schools and formed the community that became known as the Brothers of the Christian Schools. His legacy lives on today, as De La Salle Brothers, assisted by more than 100,000 lay colleagues, teach over 1,000,000 students in more than 80 countries.

Our Patron Saint

Pierre Romançon was born to a poor peasant family in Auvergne, France. He loved teaching children and spent 40 years in the classroom. He felt a strong desire to be a Lasallian Brother and assumed the name Benilde when he became a follower of John Baptist de La Salle.

In acknowledging his achievements, Pope Pius XI said, “Sanctity does not consist in doing extraordinary things, but in doing ordinary things extraordinarily well.” In October 29, 1967, he was declared a saint.

Saint Benilde’s deep faith and zeal encouraged many young men to the priesthood and religious life for which he became known as the patron saint of vocations.

Vatel Hotel and Tourism Business School was also awarded Best Hospitality Management School in the 17th Worldwide Hospitality Awards in 2017. Benilde’s International Hospitality Management program is a member of the International Network of Vatel Schools.

Furthermore, SHRIM is a Certified Guest Service Property granted by the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute or AHLEI.

The Toon Boom COE program recognizes Benilde in offering a superior learning environment for students aspiring to a career in animation or storyboarding through comprehensive exposure to Toon Boom software. The COE designation is a public recognition that attests that a school’s animation program meets a high standard of depth, breadth and quality. This qualification provides graduating students an advantage by being in high demand for world-recognized studio careers that value a deep knowledge of Toon Boom 2D animation software.

Toon Boom software is in high demand by the largest animation studios worldwide. The industry’s top studios, who are producing the most creative 2D animations–both series and feature films, are bringing their animations to life using Toon Boom technologies. All of the 2020 Emmy Nominations in the category of Outstanding Animated Program were developed using Toon Boom software.
