PoRe 2024 Celebrates 15th Anniversary of Benilde’s Architecture Program in Exhibit

15 November 2024

It has been 15 years since De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) first opened its doors to the pioneer students of its Architecture program in Academic Year 2009-2010. Since then, the foundation that the College has built has only been more fortified over time, refurbished by the excellence that young minds bring in every year.

To celebrate the milestone, the School of Environment and Design (SED) held this year’s Portfolio Review or PoRe last November 8 at the Design + Arts Campus. An exhibit that explored the exceptional works of Benilde’s Architecture students, works ranged from foundational ideas to fully realized projects.

Prior to the ribbon-cutting ceremony, SED Dean Ar. Harvey Vasquez delivered his welcoming remarks where he expressed his pride in the efforts of the Social and Academic Guild for Architecture (SAGA) and in the faculty for their leadership and guidance.

“Tonight, we will witness the dedication and passion of the renewed architecture community,” said Vasquez. “The exhibit is more than just a display of projects. It is a testament to our collective vision of a future shaped by innovation, resilience, and sustainable design,” he proclaimed.

“This journey has been guided by the expertise of our mentors, and we have ensured that every line, structure, and concept reflects the high standards of our Architecture Program.”

He ended his message by expressing his hope that the projects—which celebrate students’ hard work, dedication, and creativity—would spark a vision for a future of a “built environment” among everyone.

Incumbent SAGA President Albert Villanueva also gave a short speech after Vasquez.

After thanking everyone who attended the exhibit’s opening, he highlighted his organization’s creativity and perseverance to make the event possible. “I am truly proud and confident to say that my team has done their part very well. Thank you for making this possible and for believing in our shared vision,” the SAGA President remarked.

Apart from the administrators and exhibitors, the Architecture program’s faculty members and members of SAGA were also present, with everyone joining to welcome attendees to PoRe’s opening.

A Gala Night followed the exhibition.

Truly, Benilde is like no other, and this was exemplified in PoRe 2024. With the objective of inspiring collaboration and innovation among students and mentors, the exhibit is one of the many avenues in Benilde where the community can showcase its creative capabilities.
