The Benildean Community extends heartfelt congratulations to the Benilde Blazers Men’s Basketball Team for their remarkable achievement in reaching the NCAA Season 99 semifinals. In a season filled with thrilling victories and challenging losses, the team displayed resilience and determination, concluding with an impressive 11-7 standing. As we reflect on the successes of this season, we eagerly anticipate another spirited attempt in the next season, confident that the team will continue to strive for excellence, aiming to secure the championship title and bring lasting glory to the College.
Janelle Erica Y. Gan, recently honored with the “American Standard Design Awards (ASDA) 2023 Best in Aesthetics,” graduates summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree.
As she prepares to enter the industry, Janelle is confident, attributing her readiness to the training received at Benilde, where she developed a strong work ethic and resilience through both successes and failures.
Dean Gabriel C. Ng Tio, an Operations Manager and now a high-distinction graduate with a Master of Science in Tourism and Hospitality Management (MSTHM) from Benilde, reflects on his decision to pursue the program during the pandemic. Despite initial challenges, he appreciates the transformative journey and values the skill set acquired, particularly in managing people and workload. The MSTHM curriculum, focusing on leadership and managerial skills, perfectly aligns with Dean Gabriel’s role at Society’s Daily Bread Bakery & Bakeshop, where he applies the knowledge gained. He highlights the unique camaraderie at Benilde, emphasizing the support from professors and peers that made the learning experience exceptional. Dean Gabriel encourages prospective students to join the program, describing it as a smooth and work-friendly path for professionals.
In a triumphant achievement, the Benildean Press Corps (BPC), the official student-journalists’ organization of Benilde, secured the title of Best Student Organ in the college category at the 45th Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA). Competing against five other entries, including its sister organization Ad Astra, BPC’s victory was underscored by its outstanding magazine-journal, “The Benildean: Reacted.”
The CMMA winners across various categories were announced on Oct. 27 via the award-giving body’s official Facebook page. This marked the third CMMA recognition for BPC; the organization initially received the Best Literary Publication award in 2018 for “Shades of Gray: Convalescence” and a special citation for “The Benildean: Confined” in the 43rd CMMA in 2021.
BPC’s sister organization, Ad Astra, also earned a spot as a finalist in the same category, presenting their annual Frosh magazine “EMBARK VOL. 8.” The competition was fierce, with BPC surpassing four other finalists— “The Varsitarian” from the University of Santo Tomas, “Phoenix Tabloid” from Lyceum of the Philippines-Batangas, “The DWCC Gazette” from Divine Word College of Calapan, and “Orange” from First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH Colleges).
Winners were given full recognition on Nov. 23 at the 45th CMMA Awards Presentation, which was held at the Citystate Tower Hotel in Ermita, Manila.
Last November 28, Benildean Associates attended the second #IKnowThePlan Roadshow with presentations from the Strategic Initiatives (SI) on Lasallian Formation and Marketing. Director for Institutional Planning, Mr. Reynaldo Villegas, gave the Opening Remarks with a slide on how the Marketing and Lasallian Formation Strategic Initiatives ultimately support Academics.
Ms. Nicky Templo-Perez, Vice President for Lasallian Mission and Student Life, also SI Team Leader on Lasallian Formation, presented the following Horizon Goals for SY 2023-2026, which are building community, strengthening relationships, and creating an extraordinary culture. Given these guiding posts, she proceeded to discuss objectives, measures, and implications:

Implications
The Benildean Community can help by being involved in creating our culture, participating in community activities, events, and programs, and engaging in conversation by providing the SI Team with feedback and suggestions.
Following Ms. Nicky’s battle cry of “Benilde Natin ‘to,” which reminds everyone to be involved in culture-building is Mr. Marco Santiago, OIC Director of Benilde Marketing Center, presenting the Strategic Initiative on Marketing on behalf of SI Team Leader Mr. Benhur A. Ong.
Objectives
He begins with a brief description: to “increase College visibility, sustainability, and growth by promoting high-quality programs and support services to our target markets.” With the main objective being to increase enrollment by 50% in 2026. Supporting this main objective are the following measures and implications
Measures
Implications
The implications to the Benildean Community, if the plans of SI Marketing are achieved, are better revenues, which will be used to improve our facilities, attract the best educators and associates, and, perhaps, do more to improve the college. If the plans are not achieved for the current academic year, there will be less revenue and flexibility in implementing plans, which may affect operations.
Given these possible scenarios, these are the ways by which the Benildean Community can help:
