Held at The Red Carpet Cinema in Mandaluyong on November 30, the event brought together the country’s brightest talents in animation and gaming. Amid the celebrations, Benilde stood out, with its students sweeping major awards, including Game of the Year for the desktop game Taksil.

The Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MCAD) has unveiled an extraordinary exhibit, Maria Taniguchi: Body of Work. Running from December 14, 2024, to March 30, 2025, this marks the first survey exhibition of the globally celebrated artist in Asia.

On December 13, 2024, exchange students from UniLaSalle France looked back fondly on their time at Benilde as they bid farewell. The recently concluded exchange program with UniLaSalle was part of Benilde Global’s effort to promote international education and cultural exchange, benefiting both students and institutions.

Congratulations to the Benilde Blazers Team for their 1st Runner-Up finish at the NCAA Season 100 Men’s Basketball games.

Kudos to Alen Liwag for being awarded Most Valuable Player, Defensive Player of the Year, and Mythical Five, and to Tony Ynot for also making the Mythical Five. A special shoutout to the Saint Benilde Romancon Dance Company for securing 1st Runner-Up at the first-ever NCAA StreetDance Competition.

Administrators Celebrate CHED Autonomous Recognition and AUN Accreditation Milestones

Held at the Brasseire on 3 in Conrad Manila last December 5, Benildean adminisntrators proudly celebrated the AUN accreditations and CHED Autonomous Recognition—a testament to the College’s unwavering commitment to quality education and innovation.

Benilde Signs Several Partnerships for Service-Learning

Benilde recently celebrated a significant milestone with the signing of partnership agreements aimed at enhancing service-learning opportunities. The ceremony, held on December 10, 2024, at the Ideation Hall on The Atrium Campus, was organized by the Benilde Center for Faculty Advancement (CFAd). This event marked a collaborative effort with various organizations to enrich students’ educational experiences through community engagement and practical application of their knowledge.

Service-learning is recognized for its dual benefits, allowing students to contribute to society while gaining invaluable hands-on experience. The agreements, signed by Mr. Angelo Marco Lacson, Vice Chancellor for Academics, and Ms. Jhoana Paula Tacorda, OIC-Director of CFAd, will foster these opportunities. Participating partners include Oracle NetSuite, Tahanang Walang Hagdan, Inc., Naval Reserve Center-National Capital Region, DepEd Pasay, Supporting Initiatives for Bridging Orphan’s Lives, Quezon City Public Library, Positive Youth Development Network, PEPTARSUS CORP, Humanitarian Legal Assistance Foundation, Inc., Make-A-Wish Philippines, Lunas Collective, Institute for Occupational Health and Safety Development, Hearts of Hope Society Cancer Support Group, De La Salle Brothers, Inc., Nicanor Reyes Memorial Foundation, Community Crafts Association of the Philippines, and Asilo De San Vicente De Paul Manila. These collaborations promise to bring impactful learning experiences to Benilde students, truly a wonderful gift for the community this holiday season.

Highlights from the EXTRO 2024 Christmas Festivities

With so many festive celebrations happening here and there, it’s hard to catch up with everything! Enjoy these snapshots capturing the spirit and joy of our recent events, bringing all the memorable moments together for you to relive and cherish.

Mass Celebration and Christmas Tree Lighting at Design + Arts Campus

To kick off the Christmas festivities at the College, a Mass Celebration was held at the driveway of the Design + Arts Campus, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the Christmas Tree on December 2.

Belen Festival 2024

Belen Festival is an institutional, community-wide Christmas celebration organized by the Benilde Center for Social Action featuring Belens designed by the Kapitbahayan partners. This year’s Belen Festival is in collaboration with the School of Environment and Design, Benilde Industrial Program, and the Office of the Vice President for Lasallian Mission and Student Life, and is part of EXTRO 2024.

EXTRO 2024: Ningning ng Sining

The much-awaited concert brought the Christmas spirit to life at the MFC Parking Grounds through an evening filled with music, art, and heartfelt performances. Spearheaded by the Benilde Culture and Arts Unit, the event highlighted the creativity of Benildean talents alongside guest artists. Attendees added to the festive magic by donning unique Christmas-inspired costumes, making it a memorable celebration of art, community, and holiday cheer.

Children's Christmas Party

On December 14, we hosted our annual Christmas party for associates’ children, featuring an ‘Inside Out’ theme. The kids showed off their best Inside Out character impressions and costumes, bringing a splash of color and excitement to the event. This cherished tradition allows associates to bring their families together, strengthening bonds and building our one big Benildean family.

Last December 17, our Community Christmas Party lit up the Benilde Sports + Dormitory Complex. Associates representing their Brothers’ House wowed everyone with their talents in a spirited disco-themed dance competition.

  • Office of the President (OP)
    • We are convening the Senior High School Multi-Sectoral Tuition Fee Committee comprising crucial sector representatives of the Students, Parents, Faculty, Associate and Administration. The meeting is set on 10 January 2025 (Friday), 11:00 AM-12:00 PM via Zoom for the SY 2025-2026 tuition and other fees consultation.
    • OP announces the retirement of Mr. Jose Albert Llamas or Jobet, our Vice President for Innovation, effective December 31, 2024. While we will certainly miss his leadership and visionary approach, we also express our heartfelt gratitude for the incredible impact he has had on our College and the many innovative projects he has championed during his tenure. Moreover, the Office of the Vice President for Innovation shall be folded into the Office of the Vice President for Administration. This strategic move aims to streamline operations and enhance the alignment of our institutional goals. Starting immediately, a series of consultations will be conducted to ensure a smooth and collaborative transition process. These consultations will engage stakeholders across the Benildean community to address concerns, gather insights, and ensure that the transition supports the needs of all.
  • Office of the Vice President for Finance (OVPF)
    • As we approach the Christmas break, everyone is reminded on the early cut-off of payment processing in December 2024 for the expenses incurred, goods delivered, and services rendered. Kindly ensure that all Payment Requisition Slips (PRS) requests, Material Requisition Forms (MRF) requests, and other supporting documents are submitted to the Finance Office on or before December 18 (Wednesday). Submission of requests beyond December 18, 2024, will be processed on the next business day on January 3, 2025.
    • For the Yearly Submission of Sworn Statement for Professional Services Rendered by 3rd Party/Outside Individual Consultants, Finance sent the guidelines for withholding taxes pertaining to payments to individual consultants, 3rd party provider and similar engagements: BIR Revenue Regulations No. 11-2018 dated January 31, 2018, Section 2.57.2 & 2.57.3 related to Professional fees, talent fees, etc. for services rendered by an Individual (where no Employee-Employer relationship exists). This is in preparation for the incoming Taxable Year 2025.

    • Your feedback is highly important in improving our campus cafeterias and stores, guiding us to refine our dining and take-out services across all four campuses.   • Office of the Registrar (RO)
    • Please be informed that the online platforms for document requests—RO Google Form (https://forms.gle/vKNuiyfMvKoPJeaM6) and www.papeles.ph—will remain accessible until December 19, 2024. These platforms will reopen on January 3, 2025.
    • RO is now accepting applications for Leave of Absence (LoA) for the 2nd Term AY 2024-2025.
    • The Manual Enrollment is on January 3-4, 2025. For a fast and smooth transaction in enrolling subjects, read the guidelines carefully and accomplish the manual enrollment form form December 16-20, 2024. Don’t forget to set an appointment for encoding so we can expect you at your scheduled time of  visit.
    • Enrollment Schedule for 2nd Term AY 2024-2025: December 12-18, 2024 – Online Adjustment/Late Enrollment | January 3-4, 2025 – Manual Enrollment.
    • Clearance extended until February 23, 2025, for ID Batch 123 students with pending Official Form-137/SF10 and Official Transcript of Records from the previous school with the remarks “Copy for De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde” to allow enrollment for 2T AY 2024-2025. No enrollment shall be allowed and no credentials shall be released beyond the said due date.

    • The College will be conducting our monthly pest control treatment on December 22 (Taft Campus and MFC Building, Benilde Covered Court, The Atrium @Benilde Campus, Benilde Deaf School, HIFI Building, and Tan Property) and December 29 (Taft, D+A, and SDC Campuses).
    • As we approach the last day of work before the Christmas break, we would like to remind everyone to secure all personal belongings in your workspace. Please make sure to take home any valuable items and avoid leaving any food items behind, as these may attract pests.
