Master of Digital Media

The School of New Media Art’s Master of Digital Media is an interdisciplinary, industry-focused graduate program designed to prepare students for high-level roles in the digital creative media sector. It combines theoretical and foundational courses to foster creative leaders capable of innovation within their specialization. The program emphasizes a comprehensive understanding of the socio-historical and ethical contexts of digital media, equipping graduates to navigate and shape the evolving landscape of digital arts and design.

Master of Digital Media (MDM)

Program Length: 33 academic units and 1 non-academic unit (6 trimesters)

This program is for you if you want to step up into a leadership or mentorship role in the digital media industry. You will learn to:

  • demonstrate critical literacy necessary in the contextualization of creative projects to address socially relevant issues and concerns by proposing options appropriate for the project goals;
  • introduce innovative content to create new bodies of knowledge through the integration of multiple creative disciplines using both digital and non-digital resources and technologies;
  • develop specialized digital media production techniques to pioneer new frameworks for creative output (art and design) by engaging in independent research study and studio production;
  • manifest self-determined learning essential in the production of independent creative output by applying deep insights and building capabilities towards realizing one’s work; and
  • exhibit professional and ethical aptitude in their creative practices to inspire socially responsible and inclusive environments through a highly collaborative engagement with colleagues and advisers.

The School of New Media Arts envisions its academic programs to be the vanguards in creating digital content relevant to the people and society. Guided by prominent faculty, and industry mentors, and supported by the most up-to-date equipment, software tools, and technology in the College, the students experience innovative curricular approaches that enable them to create and explore the field through various media applications and platforms.

Because of the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, there is an increasing demand for technical experts and digital media content creators within most professional industries. And the SNMA Programs are equipped in responding to the rapid expansion and growth of interactive design, animation, film, photography, graphic design, and web design, as they cross various intersections of emerging technologies in art and design.

The School of New Media Arts is projected to become a major player and staple source of highly-skilled creatives. Its graduates are expected to take the lead in creatively responding to the needs and demands of the vast and fertile new media landscape.

Medium and techniques in the School of New Media Arts are categorically unique as they are constantly changing and evolving at an unprecedented pace. 

As they continue to enhance and establish discipline in the fields of animation, film, photography, graphic design, and web design, they cross various intersections of emerging technologies in media arts, interactive design, moving, and sound design, to name a few.

Collaboration and engagement among SNMA Programs can foster substantive collaborations to further enhance the curricula, students’ experiences and exposure, relevant partnerships and linkages, and possible job placements and work opportunities.
